Named for a creek at one end of the beach, Ochheuteal is a 3-km stretch of sandy beach. Serendipity is at its northern end while a number of bars, restaurants, and guesthouses cluster in a one-kilometer area roughly in the middle of the beach.
Both medium- and high-end hotels can be found near Ochheuteal, and there are budget rooms as well which cater to the backpacker population. Prices range from $3-80, mostly concentrated near the northwest end of Ochheuteal. There are times, though, when dirt-cheap beds (around $1) are offered right on the beach itself!
From early evening up to late at night, the stretch of beach is enlivened by beach parties and roadside barbeque restaurants selling their grilled specialties. Too much competition has at one point sold barbeques for only $3, paired with $0.50-beer.
For those who are interested to join boat tours, there are some establishments offering island hopping and snorkeling/fishing packages. There are jet skis and banana boats for rent as well.
With internet shops for those who need to touch base with their families, travel agencies, a mini golf course, a cinema, a casino, a karaoke bar, and a water park, Ochheuteal deserves its reputation of being the most popular beach in town.
From its full moon parties along the beach, to the over a hundred bars dotting its length, and the number of facilities meant to serve its loyal visitors, Ochheuteal is indeed living up to its reputation of being the place to be.
