Visa-free entry to Sihanoukville urged

Cambodia’s tourism could get a major boost from visa-free entry to Sihanoukville, industry experts say.

The government should mull over launching a visa-free policy similar to the one Vietnam introduced for Phu Quoc Island in a bid to improve beach destination tourism, said Ho Vandy, co-chair of Private-Public Tourism Sector Working Group.

“If our government is smart, they will think about this…in the past, members of the commercial tourism sector recommended scrapping compulsory visas for all tourists travelling to Cambodia,” he said.

The government should also offer incentives to the tourism and aviation industry to invest in the infrastructure development in Sihanoukville, he added.
